Trail Feature:

This trail parallels Granite Boulder Creek and offers some very photogenic views. This trail’s highest use period is in the fall during big game hunting seasons and accesses the Vinegar Hill Scenic Area, which is non-motorized. There is no developed trailhead at the beginning of the trail. Parking is limited and turning around a stock trailer would be impossible here.

From John Day, OR., travel east on US Highway 26 for approxmiately 30 miles to US Highway 7, at Austin Junction. Turn north on US Highway 7 for one mile to the junction with County Road 20. Drive northwest on County Road 20 for approximately 8 miles to Forest Road 4550. Drive north on Forest Road 4550 for approximately 2.5 miles to Forest Road 4559. Continue to travel north on Forest Road 4559 for approximately 3 miles to the end of the road.

Parking:
Parking is very limited at the end of the road, and turning a stock trailer would be impossible.
