Trail Feature:

This trail provides access from the Table Mountain Trail #217 to the Pine Creek Trail #201 within Strawberry Mountain Wilderness. This trail is a connector set in the timber in the wilderness. The trail surface is compacted dirt, with a 500 foot elevation gain.

Backpacking
Many opportunities are available for Backpacking trips from this connector trail. Visitors can travel from this trail and connect with Pine Creek Trail #201 which ties in to many other trails allowing for multi-day hiking experience.
Day Hiking
From the connector trail many options are available for day hiking trips. This trail connects with multiple other trails allowing for great choices for a wonderful day hike in the wilderness through timber, open vistas and beautiful meadows.

From the town of John Day, OR., travel south on US Highway 395 approximately 8 miles to the junction with County Road 65. Follow County Road 65 for approximately 6 miles to the junction with Forest Road 651. Turn left onto Forest Road 651 and proceed approximately 3 miles to the trailhead. Take the Table Mountain Trail #217 to the intersection with Table Mountain A Trail #5000.
