The City of Long Creek, with 220 friendly residents, is nestled in the Blue Mountains of Eastern Oregon.
Conveniently situated on Highway 395, the town lies 40 miles north of John Day and 90 miles south of Pendleton. A picturesque, rural community, it offers a wide range of year-round recreational opportunities. With an elevation of 3,750 feet, winter brings snowfall and average temperatures around 30 degrees. Summers are mild and dry, with temperatures rarely above 90 degrees.
Ranching, logging and resource based industries drive the local economy, but the area is attractive to home-based enterprises, small businesses and retirees. There is an active K-12 school, 2 churches, a post office, a committed volunteer fire department and dedicated EMT ambulance crew. |
